About

From a leaking roof to CTO.

Lucas Albuquerque

I started at 12, in a room with a leaking roof, and built a site that became one of the most visited in Brazil. It paid for my college and set my career.

At 16 I was already building products for companies. Then came Europe, 31 countries, and Abu Dhabi, where I put an early AI product into production.

Today I am the CTO at Hubble. I write about engineering in public, and I do mentorship and talks.

On the record

What I actually believe

Depth beats fluency

Frameworks expire. Networks, databases, memory, and concurrency do not. The engineers who last are the ones who kept digging when the market rewarded speed.

Comfort is the risk

Stability feels like safety right up to the moment the market moves. If nothing about your work has scared you in two years, that is data.

Say it in public

Being excellent and invisible is a choice, and an expensive one. Writing is the cheapest way to make your judgment legible to strangers.

Timeline

The chapters

0112

A site, a bucket, a banned blog

One of the most visited sites in Brazil, built with no money and no skills, then taken down by a platform. Rebuilt it with PHP, MySQL, and SEO learned overnight.

0216

Paid to write code

I started working for Brazilian companies.

0321

Paid in dollars

A hundred interviews for a handful of offers. Europe and the UK. 31 countries as a nomad who still shipped on time.

0427

Abu Dhabi and an AI product

Shipped an early AI product into production. Learned that explaining the work is half the work, and that discomfort teaches faster than any course.

05Now

CTO at Hubble

Building the product and the engineering team behind it.

Mentorship or talks

Book a call and I will tell you what makes sense.
